Math Problems!!! Easy Point Earning?
I am just trying to solve this problems. Just having a hard time to get the answer.
1.) A church building fund has invested some money in two ways: part of money at 2.5% with twice deposited at 3%. Find the deposited at each rate if the total annual interest income is $850
2.) A second number is five times a first number. A third number is 100 more than the first number. If the sum of the three numbers is 415, find the numbers.
3.) How many cubic centimeters of a 30% solution should be mixed with an 80% solution to get a 50 cubic centimeters of a 60% solution.

1) let x be the money invested
0.025x + 0.03(2x) = 850
0.085x = 850
x = 10000
2) let x = first number, y = second, z = third
y = 5x
z = x + 100
x + y + z = 415
sub first and second equations into the third;
x + 5x + x + 100 = 415
7x = 315
x = 45
y = 5(45) = 225
z = (45) + 100 = 145
3) let x be amount of 30% solution, and y be the amount of 80% solution
0.3x + 0.8y = 0.6(50)
x + y = 50
sub 2 into 1
0.3x + 0.8(50 – x) = 30
0.3x -0.8x = -10
-0.5x = -10
x = 20, so 20 cm^3 of the 30% solution is needed (and 30cc’s of the 80% solution)
