There are many people who love visiting the zoo but can’t see everything because of time constraints. Kids are crazy about the zoo and would highly enjoy an action tour. So you can start your own business of being a zoo guide! You can charge each person $15-$30 for a two hour tour. Of course, the zoo will get a small percentage of your profits, but you should still make enough. You will need a van or mini bus which would look much better with some custom paint on it, and you will need a map and information on all the animals. You need to be completely knowledgeable about the zoo.
If you love talking to people, then you will enjoy this job a whole lot more. You will get to earn money by educating people. You will get to carry kids in your van and take off the burden off the parent’s shoulders. In fact, if the children decide to sit on the adult’s laps on the way, then you could offer them a free tour. This will ensure that your customers are happy, and you will gain an extra seat space. But the vehicle should be moving slowly all the time, because of the number of passengers you will be carrying.
You should have a good idea about the zoo and know all the best routes for a tour. Decide on which one is the fastest and most enjoyable and settle on that. You can also offer tours focusing on different types of animals. This way, people can avoid seeing what they don’t want to see, while others can see more of the zoo for an added fee. This idea works perfectly well if the zoo is huge. It will mean a lot of information to learn, but it will be worth it.
You need to know all the facts about an animal. If you do, your customers will enjoy the tour more and come back later. Or they might refer others to you. So you should do anything to find out more about the animals, either by checking online or talking with the zoo personnel involved in handling the animals.
With enough practice, you will notice that you are becoming smoother and smoother at handling customers and answering their questions. In the beginning it might be a bit tough to find enough customers. But if you can impress only a few, you will still be on your way to a very lucrative business, because the word of your excellent services will spread by mouth.
