How much money the cosmologists do the research?
Q1: Not as much as they would like. But most people who study the subject because of its fascination. Most postdocs (who constitute the majority of any population of cosmologists) will be at the level survival and a bit. In Europe, perhaps 40 to 50 kEuro. In the UK, about 25 000 (taxes differnet Tho '). I remember taking my first post-doc and be honest too kEuro impressed with 40 – 6 years ago. Now if you're smart, written many grant proposals, and look great foundations, you can find a k bit more – but overall, if you like the subject, in fact they are not matters of first priority. The really important questions are: a) What is my teacher and his / her department? ¿I can get them? b) Are they doing the things I can progress (or the freedom of mine) c) Is a job interesting? What is the long-term plan for you?
